Exhibition "The Other Dutch" with Tempo Doeloe
This exhibition was staged twice.
The first one was held in the Dutch Consulate from 4 – 22 March 1996, St Kilda Rd, Melbourne. It was an exhibition to remember Dutch people born and bred in Indonesia, organised with Tempo Doeloe and DAC Sydney, supported by the Dutch Consulate General. It was open on weekdays from 10 am – 3 pm and staffed by volunteers. We contributed toward its cost.
The second exhibition was similar to the first one but with a different theme. In September 1999 we were approached by Tempo Doeloe to participate in and help fund an exhibition about the migrant experiences of the Indische migrants in Australia. The Immigration Museum of Victoria had selected such an exhibition from applications received.
We assisted with this second exhibition and provided part of the required funding. The Dutch Embassy and the Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fund were sponsors. It was held in the Access Gallery of the Immigration Museum in Flinders Street, Melbourne and ran from 9 May to 23 July 2000.
